The WorkPlace Group on behalf of a Sarnia business is recruiting for a Small Engine Mechanic


  • Perform service repairs on 2 stroke and 4 stroke gasoline engines, snow equipment, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, mowers, zero turn mowers, sod cutters, sod rollers, water pumps, generators, and various small tools (Electric and gas powered)
  • Test to check whether systems and components are secure and are working properly
  • Isolate the systems or components that might have caused the problem
  • Operate equipment for testing purposes or diagnose using various equipment, including hand-held and onboard compression gauges or diagnostic computers
  • Strong preventative maintenance skills
  • Strong knowledge of landscape maintenance, construction tools and snow equipment
  • Advise customers on work performed, general equipment condition and future repair requirements.
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and attention to detail
  • Other duties as necessary


  • Mechanic license preferred but not necessary
  • Educational Background in Small Engine Repair is an asset
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working as a mechanic
  • Valid driver’s license - mandatory

Full time position, year round

$18-22 per hour

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
